外媒：Axmin将开发中非共和国铁矿项目

Axmin Maintains Exposure To Iron Ore Potential In Central African Republic

Axmin (TSX-V:AXM), which is predominately focused on developing gold projects, has gained access to iron ore potential at its permits in the Central African Republic (“CAR”).

The junior mining company has granted Ferrum Resources, a privately held company, the right to apply for iron ore prospective rights over its gold permits.  In return for consenting, Axmin will receive a 25% participating interest and will be free carried on the first US$4 million of expenditure on the Topa Iron Ore deposit.

The iron ore deposit is part of the Topa Iron belt, two northwest trending ridges that cover a strike of 28 and 20 kilometers respectively.

Axmin first discovered iron ore in the CAR in May 2000 during the course of regional gold exploration within the Bambari Permits. The company discovered a body of massive high grade lump iron ore, that is now referred to as Topa Hill. Since that time, AXMIN has completed further sampling, mapping, airborne and ground geophysical surveys and limited drilling to define the potential of the iron belt.

Initial sampling in 2006 and analysis of the massive lump hematite-magnetite rock indicated an iron content of 66.7% with low silica, alumina and phosphorous content, from an average of 10 grab samples.

"We believe, that should the Ferrum applications be granted, AXMIN may, should it be deemed appropriate or necessary, have an opportunity, to realize significant early value from this participation right,” President and CEO, Mr. George Roach, commented today.“ This could help AXMIN avoid any further necessity to raise equity funds prior to finalization of its gold mine development funding, expected to be completed in mid-2011.”

Roach went on to note that Axmin’s current share gave no value to its iron ore interests, let alone the Passendro Gold Project where the company is seeking to build a 150,000 to 200,000 ounces per annum gold mine.
