NSL Consolidated (ASX: NSL) has announced it has confirmed arrangements with its foundation customer to commence loading its first shipment of iron ore in late March 2010.

The initial shipment of 20,000 tonnes will depart from Krishnapatnam Port in the Province of Andhra Pradesh, on India's East Coast. Further shipments are planned as production ramps up towards the end of this month.Timing of the initial shipment has been dictated by delays in securing crushing capacity and the occurrence of the Chinese New Year holiday period.

NSL Managing Director Cedric Goode said the Company is entering an exciting phase with the March shipment scheduled to generate the Company's first cash flow.

“We are very pleased to have established our mining and logistics operations to the point where we are now very close to loading our first shipment of Indian iron ore, bound for China,” Mr Goode said.

“Once our first shipment is underway we will have demonstrated proof of concept that our operating model; i.e. of acquiring ready to operate projects with direct ship ore and using local contractors to mine and transport our product to port – can work.

“The next steps for NSL are to get our Kuja mine into full production, complete our re-compliance listing and continue our evaluation of mining opportunities to expand our portfolio of producing mines in India.”

NSL has commenced mining at its second project, the Mangal mine, in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh. Mining has been running at expected capacity, with final product generation restricted until last week because of a delay in securing crushing capacity at the site.

Ore out-turned to date has been sourced from screened material. Currently there are approximately 26,000 tonnes of lumps and fines stockpiled on site.

Production at the Kuja mine has been restricted as the Company awaits approval of a modified mining plan allowing an increased production rate. The Company expects to receive the approval in the near term. Currently approximately 8,000 tonnes of lumps and fines are stockpiled on this site.

NSL has commenced trucking iron ore to the Company's storage plot at the Krishnapatnam Port on India's East Coast in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

To date, the Company has transported approximately 1,500 tonnes of ore by road from its Mangal mine to the Port. While this tonnage is relatively small, it has allowed NSL to test the logistics network and verify its capability.

The Company is now confident that the logistics network operates efficiently and has the capacity required to meet the shipping schedule.

NSL is ramping up production at its Mangal mine and expects to have sufficient tonnage at Port to meet its Chinese off-take customer's shipping window in late March. The Company has contracted a local firm to supply up to 1mtpa of trucking capacity, utilising road transport for movement of material to port.

Road transportation offers a simple, cost effective and uninterrupted logistics network directly to the Company's storage plot at the port, with an expected reduction in handling losses, and costs in line with previous estimates. The Company is continuing its discussions with rail providers to provide it with an alternative logistics path to port.

NSL has also announced the vesting conditions associated with the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Performance Options.(Proactiveinvestors Australia)

The Performance Options will vest, based on certain operational performance milestones being achieved:

- Upon the Company owning projects that in aggregate have 25 million tonnes of iron ore delineated to an inferred JORC standard (grading a minimum of 55% Fe), the Class 'A' Performance Options shall vest;

- Upon the Company owning projects that in aggregate have 50 million tonnes of iron ore delineated to an inferred JORC standard (grading a minimum of 55% Fe), the Class 'B' Performance Options shall vest; and

- Upon the Company owning projects that in aggregate have 100 million tonnes of iron ore delineated to an inferred JORC standard (grading a minimum of 55% Fe), the Class 'C' Performance Options shall vest.
